Residents of the Gumani community in the Tamale North constituency have been assured by government of the construction of the Gumani-Kanvilli Bridge. The bridge connects Gumani to other nearby communities after been swept away by recent heavy downpour which lasted for about three hours. Properties worth over millions of Ghana cedis have been lost including three lives as recorded. A visit to affected areas by the Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed to assess the extent of damage which the rain has caused, assured residents of government’s assistance. He indicated that the region has for a long time not witnessed that kind of rainfall and flooding.
The Northern Regional Minister urged benevolent organizations to step in to assist the situation. He therefore appealed to citizen to desist from building on water prone zones to prevent any future occurrence. The Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed speaking to some affected flood victims said nothing is lost so far as there is life and good health.
