Actionaid Ghana Honors it’s Learners and Facilitators in grand style


Actionaid Ghana and NORSAAC have held a graduation and Facilitators appreciation ceremony for it’s Learners and Facilitators under the Complementary Basic Education (CBE) program in the Gushegu district of the Northern Region.

Actionaid Ghana and NORSAAC in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, ( GES) since October 2016, embarked on the implementation of the Complementary Basic education (CBE) program in the Gushegu district of the Northern Region for over three thousand five hundred (3,500) children of school going age in the Gushegu district of which over 1,428 are males and the majority being females with a over 1,622 girls.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Northern Regional Program Manager for Actionaid Ghana Madam Esther Boateng lauded their partners NORSAAC with support from the Ghana Education Service in the district and the facilitators for their overwhelming contribution towards the success of the first year of the program in the Gushegu district.

She said, the program started on the 3rd of October 2016 with challenges such as lateness and unpunctuality to class, stigmatization by some members of the community among others, yet the program has seen a great success considering the number of girls who enrolled and graduated being greater as compared to their male counterparts.

The learners were given some educational materials including exercise books, pens, pencils among others to start their formal education in the next academic year which starts September this.

The learners and facilitators expressed their joy and gratitude to Actionaid Ghana and NORSAAC for their contribution towards their educational lives through the CBE program and promised to stay in formal school to make the program a fruitful one.

In attendance at the ceremony was the District Director of Education for Gushegu Mr. Ibrahim Iddrisu, the Reagent of Gushegu Naa Abukari Yakubu a representative of the DCE Mr. Osman Isaah deputy coordinating director for the Gushegu District Assembly.
