The Northern Regional Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Sulley Sambian, has debunked reports on social media suggesting that the newly elected National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay and other candidates were sharing sums of money to party delegates at the NPP-Koforidua congress.
He described the reports as falsehood and “cheap propaganda” from political opponents.
Speaking on the 275 buses donation by Mr. Freddie Blay, the regional secretary defended the national chairman’s decision to facilitate the purchase of 275 minibuses for each constituency of the party.
Lawyer Sambian argued that Mr. Blay’s pledge, which came to fruition ahead of the NPP’s delegates Conference, was not meant to sway voters.
Mr. Blay emerged the winner in the national chairmanship race of the NPP amid the allegations of vote buying from his closest challenger, Stephen Ntim, and political observers.
But in Sambian’s view, the pledge to provide buses was simply a move to help the party and not to buy votes from delegates..
Meanwhile, the NPP regional secretary said the Northern regional executives’ decision to declare their support for Mr. Blay was a decision they know will help the party retain power in 2020.
Mr. Sulley Sambian is the Managing Solicitor of Sambian and Co law firm in Ghana. He was called to the Ghana Bar Association in the year 2003.
He has worked with Akuffo Addo, Prempeh and Co, a law firm in Accra and with George Sarpong Legal Servces in Kumasi.
Mr. Sulley Sambian has more than a decade of experience handling a wide range of legal claims. His areas of specialisation include Commercial Litigation and Property law and now hold one of the biggest political positions as the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP.
